some lyrics from song “Trembling Hands” by band A Plea For Purging.

“Everyone has a motive
None of which are pure.
There are vipers.
They are liars.
There are vipers everywhere
Waiting to prey on you.
Watch out for their poison.
They wait to devour you.
Don’t be deceived.
Children, watch your backs, the monster is coming.
Hide your soul, hold it tight.
There is a viper on the loose.
Follow no man’s words because I know what man holds.
Follow the path of God because I know what man holds.”

Since all of us become like …

“Since all of us become like what we worship, it is imperative that we entertain a proper appreciation of God. Low thoughts of God are destructive. Only when we creatures give the Creator the place He deserves will we rise above flesh and blood and attain the dignity for which we were designed.”

-from p.115 of “My Heart, My Life, My All” by William MacDonald.

Too much of our lives are filled with …

“Too much of our lives are filled with activities done under the general assumption this is what God wants, or because this is what is expected and this is what everyone else is doing.
This is not obedience – it is independence. Assumed obedience is independence in its most subtle, yet accepted form. This independent action in the final analysis is indifference to the word of God. The end of independence is also “vanity and striving after wind.”
Real obedience is my response to God’s word – made alive and personal to me by His Spirit. This is what it means to “walk in the same manner as He walked,” (1 John 2:6).”
