“Remembering a Dark Past”

I’m walking through the valleys of temptations,
Wading through the mire of sin,
Crawling through swamp of selfishness,
Sinking in this quicksand of pride.

The more I take and the less I give,
The faster I sink.
I see now how much I’ve lost
And how little I have gained.

It’s all bringing me down,
It’s all working against me,
When I get what I want
I don’t feel fulfilled or complete,
I’m left feeling empty and unsatisfied.

The world’s remedies and cures can’t make me whole.
The things of this world can’t satisfy my soul;
The lust of the flesh leaves me empty, filthy, guilty;
The pride of life leaves me feeling dead inside.

It’s all for nothing if it’s not for God’s glory.
If it’s all for myself then it’s all loss,
Then it’s all wasted and I’ll be left with nothing.

If I gain Christ, I’ll gain all that I need;
If I lose Christ, I’ll lose everything.

All of my pride I want to see die,
Replace it with humility, O Lord.

I want to die to self, to sin, to this world,
And live unto Christ, live for God’s glory.

All the temporal things I’ve lost
Are nothing to me now
For in Christ I have eternal life,
So I keep my eyes on Him
And do what matters eternally.

All that I do I want it to be for God’s glory,
I want to live obeying His perfect will.

I can do all that I’m called to do
For Christ strengthens me to obey God’s will.

I will not perish as a slave to sin,
I will live as a child of God
Saved by His grace through faith in Christ.
Glory to God Alone.

Isaiah 5:20-24

Isaiah 5:20-24
21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

“20) Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that count darkness as light, and light as darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21) Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22) Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink,
23) who justify the wicked for a reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24) Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.”

“DARK RIDDLE” by Jill Carattini.

by Jill Carattini.

“What we do with the subject of God is a far-reaching choice, defining life, informing death, shaping everything. The one who lives as though there is no God lives quite differently than the one who lives confidently that there is a God. It is a subject of consequence because it reaches everything and everyone; whether mindfully or indifferently, a decision is always made.”
